Matt Hammitt

Matt Hammitt is a Grammy-nominated singer, songwriter, author, and speaker, best known as the lead vocalist of the Christian band Sanctus Real from 1996–2016. During his tenure with the band, he received three Dove Awards and two Grammy nominations, and he wrote numerous chart-topping songs performed by Sanctus Real and other notable artists.

In addition to his work as a recording artist, Matt is a respected songwriter, working with influential Christian and worship artists including For King & Country, Cody Carnes, Francesca Battistelli, Terrian, and Bethel Music. His songwriting is recognized for its authenticity, hope, and ability to connect deeply with audiences through themes of resilience, faith, and perseverance.

An Ohio native now based in Nashville, Tennessee, Matt stepped away from Sanctus Real in 2016 to prioritize family life. That decision became the foundation of his book, Lead Me: Finding Courage to Fight for Your Marriage, Children, and Faith, which offers an unfiltered account of his personal journey through faith, marriage, and fatherhood. Matt has released three solo albums and, in 2025, signed a new recording deal with Gotee Records, marking a new chapter in his musical career.
